New year and life goes on.

Well, 2007 is another year that comes to its end and from now we are begining 2008.

It was a pretty good year, there were a lot of new disc, concerts, new bands, driving experiences, trips, maps, etc., and to finish this year in the best way ever I just received my Box Set of Radiohead, In Rainbows. It's so cool, it worths every cent (or pound) that I pay for it, hehehehehe. It has 2 discs, 2 CDs (the second CD is only available if you buy this box set), one book with the lyrics of all the songs and another book with art made for this disc. I couldn't listen the second CD because I had to clean the house and prepare everything to the dinner :-P, I hope to listen it tomorrow and I'll write a review about it too.

Let's begin 2008 in the best way ever, and I hope that this year has a lot of surprises and good news.

Have a great 2008.

In Rainbows

This week (10/10) was released the new disc of Radiohead named: In Radiohead.

4 years after released the "Hail to the thief" Radiohead has this new album in their records. I downloaded this new album from their site: www.radiohead.com and I don't have words to describe it, they are back in a pretty good shape, their sound is more solid and it's a good disc to be heard any time.

My favorite tracks are:
Bodysnatchers
Nude
Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
All I need.

As an additional data (if you don't know), Radiohead has implemented a new way to buy their disc, and it is by letting you pay as much as you consider their music worths :-D, additionally you can pay for a Special Edition that I hope it will be delivered to me in January 2008 or december of this year. This edition includes 2 vinyl discs of 12", 2 cds (In rainbows and an additional CD no available to be downloaded) and a book with pictures and lirycs of the songs.

This is a good album to be bought and as I said before you can pay anything that you want, so that it's easy to pay a fair price for it.

Leave me your comments about this new disc, and what do you think about its new way to pay for it.

Have a great week

Las de la intuición by Shakira

The past friday I just watched the musical video of "Las de la intuición" or "Pure intuition" by Shakira.

I have to admit neather I'm a pop fan nor a fan of Shakira, but this song (in the same way as "Moscas en la casa") has something that hooked me on :-P. I don't know, maybe there's a secret pop fan in my dark side, chuckle.

Here's the video, maybe the only element left in this video is the singular movement of her humps :-P (that's the Shakira's personal sign).

Enjoy it ;-)

Porter

Hey, it's been more than a month that I don't write anything, I apologize for not updating this blog but I had personal appointments and issues.

On the other hand and about more interesting things, this post is to comment about Porter a mexican band from Guadalajara, Jalisco that is currently having a great grow in Mexico. They are considered as an Indie Rock band but as they say in their space their genre is: Undefined :-P, and this is because when you listen their songs you'll find several kind of sounds, silences and rythms so that they are not easy to be cataloged.

Porter are:

  • Giovanni Paolo Lechatelli (Drums)

  • Villor (Guitars, Piano)

  • Juan Son (Vocals)

  • F-Air (Guitars)

  • Bacter (Bass, synthetizer)

Up to date they only have one LP (Atemahawke) and one EP (Donde los ponys pastan). I bought the LP and it's a very good disc, they need more time to grow up as a band and be more mature with their sound and lyrics, despite this elements they have a very good sound and a good concept as an indie band.

Additionally and as many mexican bands are doing up to date they have songs in two languages English and Spanish, maybe two or three are in a combination of spanish and english (not spanglish at all)

These are two videos, listen them to know what I'm talking about when they say: Experimental (Specially with the first one where you can see that cats are able to sing with them in a good way :-P )

Host of a ghost - Atemahawke.

Daphne - Donde los ponys pastan.

They are having a very active year with too many concerts and presentations, even they have a tour date for USA (12 oct 2007, 8:00pm, Porter @ L.A. Ford Amphitheater, Los Angeles), and several tour dates in Mexico, if you have the oportunity to go to any of their concerts I really suggest you to go and enjoy it (this is a wise decision if you like indie music).

Let me know your comments about this band, they deserve an opportunity in this commercial music world.

Satin Dolls

One month ago I found Karen's Space, she is the vocalist of Satin Dolls, a Mexican rock band with a singular sound and composition. Karen has a pretty voice, her tones, screams and words give a special taste to their songs.

This monday I just find their first E.P., if you are looking for a retro soft punk sound you should get it.

They have 2 versions of many songs, one in english and other in spanish, for example: Vuelve (Spanish version) is Maybe (English version)

I really like very much their song named: "Vuelve". The electro sounds and Karen's voice are a pretty good combination.

This year the Satin Dolls have been playing in several places in Mexico, for example: Bulldog, Hard Rock Live and Pasaguero. And they are working on their first album.

By the way, after you saw the pictures of Karen, you will understand why I found her in MySpace, hehehe, she is so pretty and sexy, there's no doubt about it.

I leave you two videos of their songs:

Vuelve by Satin Dolls (Maybe - english version)

Dulce Obsesión by Satin Dolls (Sweet Lust - english version)

Have a great Friday.

Transformers

By Michael Bay, this is a movie of the Transformers a cartoon of 1980's, it's an amazing film with impressive visual effects and a good story. The best parts are all the scenes were Megan Fox shows up, wow she is really a beauty.

Here's the trailer of this movie. If you have the oportunity to go to the cinema and watch this film you should, it worths too much.

Transformers movie's theme

P.S. Don't drink too much water or soda before watching the film, its duration is about 2 hours and 20 min, and if you drank too much then you'll miss a great part of that movie.

A little green bag

Who doesn't remember this song? well, maybe not all of you know the name, but this is the first song played in Reservoir Dogs a film by Quentin Tarantino.

This weekend I bought the soundtrack of this film, it's nothing but awesome, I just began to listen this disc and a lot of old memories came to my mind, wooowww an incredible amount of sounds and images that were buried for a long long time.

Listening "Stuck in the middle with you" you'll automatically will remember that "ear cut" scene, and the singular movements of Mr Yellow, chuckle. I really love this movie, Reservoir Dogs is a master piece by Tarantino, you don't know what is going to happen in the next scene up to you are watching the credits and you begin to link all the stories.

Here's the promotional trailer of this film, if you haven't watched it, you should. It's a good movie, and as any movie directed by Tarantino, it has a lot of violence and blood (one of the Tarantino's sign)

Have a great weekend.

This is called: The Black Magic Show

As the title says, the latest album of Elefant is named: The Black Magic Show.

Elefant is an Indie Rock Band, their members are:
Diego García - Vocals
Jeff Berrall - Bass
Mod - Guitars
Kevin McAdams - Drums

They have a good sound, and several songs have a characteristic rythm that you want to hear again, again and again. Many lyrics are existencialist and this is like the sign of Elefant for each song.

I just listened this disc and inmediatly this band got a place on my 40 best rock bands :-D. They are a very new band, their first album was released on April 2003, The black magic show was released on April 2006 (3 years later), you can find a difference between their discs, not a big one but it's notorios the band's grew up.

Their vocalist Diego Garcia is being considered as a new sex symbol of rock, just a curious note, I don't know if really it is or just their fans consider him in that way.

As usual, I leave you a video of one of their songs, this time it's "Lolita" from "The Black Magic Show", listen them and let me know your opinions.

Personally my favorite songs from this band are:

  1. My Apologies

  2. Black Magic Show

  3. Sunlight makes me paranoid

  4. Lolita

  5. The clown

  6. Make up

  7. Now that I miss her

Have a nice week.

Vicious Delicious

The last wednesday I bought Vicious Delicious by Infected Mushroom, they are an Israeli duo, their music style is psychedelic trance or sounds like pyscho. Infected Mushroom are: Erez Eizen (I.Zen) and Amit Duvdevani (Duvdev) both from the city of Haifa, located in the northern parts of Israel.

I knew them by listening their albums: Im the supervisor and Classical Mushroom and I really like them since the first time that I listen their songs. They have an original sound and use different kinds of rythms to make their psycho sound better in each disc.

Vicious Deliciuos is not the exception for they singular rythms, sounds and silences, they are serious when doing music. My favorite songs for this disc are:

  1. Forgive me

  2. Becoming insane

  3. Artillery

This new disc comes in a great time, when they are touring around the world and after a period of 3 years without a new release since Im the supervisor in 2004, I just can say: "It was a worth waiting :-D".

I leave a video from youtube.com of their first track from this album: Becoming insane.

This disc is a five stars worth buy if you like of electronic and psycho music ;-), if you don't maybe you should listen many songs from their space and then get your own decision about if you like them or not.

If you have listened Infected Mushroom, please leave a comment and tell me what do you think about them and their sound.

Have a great week.

When you look for a dream and you must get it.

Today I was surfing at Internet and I found the following video, it´s great and I hope you find it as good as I do.

In resume: when you look for a dream, you must do anything to achieve it, it doesn´t matter where your dream will take you :'-)

We are dangerous and we are moving

Chuckle, the last weekend I went to a world of magic and fantasy, it was great, obviously, with a trip there's always good music to listen.

This time I began it listening the tATu girls, I like them more than their music, and I have to admit that they sound pretty good, well the first song was:

Dangerous and moving

Then the random played other songs of theirs, but I don't know how to write their name because they are in russian :-S, I only can say that those songs are from their debut album at Russia.

After these songs, I listened Streetcar by Funeral For a Friend

Then Duran Duran was played and their more famous songs: Come undone, Ordinary World, Too Much Information, etc.

then I cannot remember the songs that were played, but they were adhoc to the moment, I just was seeing the sky and the stars, as I said a trip to a world of magic and fantasy.

Turismo Cup, Mexico

First of all I apologize for not posting these days but, you know, when you have business to do you have to take time from another hobbies.

Well, today I was at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez, it was another date for Turismo Cup Mexico (Copa Turismo México), this Cup has many categories, there are a category with stock cars (1.6 liters, 100 HPs) like Chevy (Corsa B in Europe made by Opel), Chevy C2 (exclusive mexican car made by Chevrolet, mine is one of them), Mexican Pointer (made by VolksWagen) and Beetle (the old one by VolksWagen). I like these races because you can see everything that a daily car can do in certain conditions. In certain categories the cars are just modified from their suspension and tires ONLY. In other categories many cars are tubulars and have awesome engines.

Here are many videos that I got from there, but it´s better to be there :-D, unfortunately I had issues with YouTube.com and I couldn't upload more videos :-S, I´ll post them ASAP.

The Teenagers

Listening my favorite station (Reactor 105.7 ) I heard a new band, they are "They Teenagers"

They have a pretty good sound, you can listen their musice while you are trying to forget anything about your life and listen anything about the life of others, or maybe I feel it because it was one of my worse months of this year :-S

You can get news about them from their official site (http://theteenagers.blogspot.com) or at their space (myspace.com/theteenagers)

Here's the video of their first single "Homecoming"

Listen them an leave me your comments about their songs and video. It's a quiet sound, and I just imagine listening them and driving on the highway on my vacations or Holiday, forgeting anything that I'm leaving behind.

After too much time I bought the unique Radio Vago's first album named as the band itself (Radio Vago) (only available at iTunes)

After listened it several times I just have to say: "WOW RADIO VAGO RULES!!!!!!!!"

Their sound is just better than good, it's awesome!!!!!!!!!, if you like listening Funeral for a friend, Lost prophets, Power man 5000, they are an Alternative rock band, unfortunately after recording their first album they just separate.

You can review their history at the wikipedia, a brief part of it is:

Radio Vago was originally formed in 1999 in Los Angeles as Radio Vagobond before changing its name. The band has released one EP and has been featured on compilations. The band recorded their full-length record which was produced by Omar Rodriguez of experimental rock band The Mars Volta, but the band broke up prior to its release, and it was only released for download.

The band consists of:
Mire Molnar - vocals
Jen Gillaspy - guitar
Olivia Parriott - keyboards
Jenny Vassilatos - drums
Nicole Fiorentino - bass
Sara Gross - saxophone

About the album, my favorite tracks are:
If today (this is the hymn to begin my day rocking)
The Sinking (This one rocks!!!!)
The Watcher
Neo Pacifiers
Radar
Memetik
Love and Thieves

If you have the oportunity just get this album, this is a recomendation with two thumbs up :-D

Avatars

Maybe it could be worthless but I don't care, hahahahahahaha.

Many times we use Avatars to display our image or feelings through Instant Messaging, Forums, emails, blogs and other places where we can say with an image how you are at that moment, many of them are too funny and others too sad.

Here are some of them that I use, I'm thinking about a new one for this second half of the year, but I don't get any idea.

Ima Robot in Mexico

The past tuesday I got one of the best news in my life, Ima Robot comes to Mexico!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Incredible, I never thought those guys would come for this year.

They played at "Septimo Piso" (7th floor)
The sponsor for this event were "Revista Marvin", it's a magazine about music, I'll be buying many of their issues, then I'll tell you more about them.

I got 2 tickets free by Reactor 105.7 a radio station from Mexico City, they play rock and many alternative bands that are beginning, it's just fine but it could be better.

Now, about the concert, WOW it was incredible, those guys are exceptional, they turn all the people on just showing off in the scenario. All of them were great. The first song was (if I'm not wrong) "Dynomite" wwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaa, after the first minute two guys began a fight between them, hey, they really hurt one to another I just see their faces and mouths bleeding in excess, my friend was freaked about it but then the party get better.

I cannot remember very well the set-list but I'm pretty sure they played the following songs (please ignore the order :-P ):

Dynomite (the beginning)
Alive
Disconnect
STD Dance
Dirty life
Let's talk turkey
12 = 3 (Here come the doctors)
Here come the bombs
Creeps me out
Eskimo ride
Lovers in captivity (The last one)

Aditionally they played two new songs, Alex Ebert said that one of those comes in a new realese for June.

I couldn't take too much pictures (it was a playing that I enjoyed instead of taking blog details :-P ), I share the best ones that I could take.

Finally this is the flyer that was used to promote this event by 7th floor.

Guys of Ima Robot really roooooooock!!!!!!!! and I hope you come back to Mexico soon.

New Discs to enjoy a Long Weekend

Last Thursday and Friday were holidays in Mexico so that I decided to buy new discs to enjoy it at home (there are too many people outside Mexico City and every beach and tourist place has a lot of tourist from Mexico City, it's not a good time to have vacations if you really want to rest :-P hehehehe).

I bought the following:
The Greatest - Cat Power

Teatro Metropólitan - Ely Guerra (Special edition 2 discs)

Sonamos Pese a Todo - Les Luthiers

All of them are good choices for a quiet weekend, specially Ely Guerra and Cat Power on the other hand if you want to have a funny weekend you should listen Les Luthiers, they are from Argentina and unfurtunately you need to have a good understanding of spanish if you want to get all their pranks, I wrote about them a time ago in Spanish and in English (you can see videos in the spanish section).

About the concert.

It was AWESOME, AMAZING, something never seen by me. The second song (I don't remember the first one) was "Liberty Bell", Anneke was simply TERRIFIC, wow, her voice and her energy in communication with all of us was incredible. The sounds, emotions and waves.

There are no words for this concert only INCREDIBLE.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this concert as much as we did.

Two thumbs up for The Gathering.

The Gathering in Mexico

I know that I have not written for a while, but I have had many pendings that couldn't wait more :-S

Here we go:

March 16th, 2007
The Gathering in Mexico City!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorites bands is The Gathering, a band that is associated with Dark, Metal, Doom Metal and similar, currently it's a band of Progessive rock, Alternative rock and Ambient music.

They are from Netherlands, their sound and image is pretty singular, that's why they are a best band from this world :-).

Their current members are:
Anneke van Giersbergen - lead singer/guitars
René Rutten - guitars / flute
Marjolein Kooijman - bass
Hans Rutten - drums
Frank Boeijen - keyboards

Their first album was released in 1992, its name is: Always..., but in the second half of 1990's they came to fame, at the same time as Anneke van Giersbergen joined the band and honestly, she is a milestone for this band, they were completed up to her arrived.

Up to date they have 8 studio albums:
Always...1992
Almost a dance1993
Mandylion1995
Nighttime Birds1997
How to measure a planet?1998
if then else2000
Souvenirs2003
Home2006

If you look for them at Wikipedia you'll get more information.

About the concert, it was soooooooooooooooo AMAZING, there are no enough words to describe all the emotions and feelings that I felt that night, René Rutten was amazing at the guitars, Hans Rutten played so perfect, Frank Boeijen at the background and with an important part of the whole concert, Marjolein Kooijman was so expledid at the bass now she is one of my favorites bass ;-), and Anneke van Giersbergen was so AWESOME on both singing and playing the guitar, she is so pretty, beautiful and has a sign that can freeze and enchant everybody, if you don't believe me just take a look to the following picture and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

All of them look like enjoyed the concert as much as we did.

unfortunately I don't have time to post any more about this concert, just give me a couple of days, and I'll post pictures about it.

San Felipe, Estado de Mexico

The last weekend I went to San Felipe, a town from Estado de Mexico, Mexico, it's located at 44 kilometers (aprox) from Toluca to the north.

It's a quiet and very peaceful place, the people is very humble and pretty kind, every person that I found there just said me hello, good morning, good evening and goodbye. Maybe those are simple things, but up to day many of us have forgotten it and we are only thinking about our business without paying attention to the persons that are beside us.

There you can eat Barbacoa, a traditional dish from Mexico, in many towns from Estado de Mexico they prepare a pretty good and tasty barbacoa, if you have the oportunity just don't doubt and taste it with a good beer in your right hand :-D

I drove 1:45 hrs on the highway, it was a so nice trip, the traklist for this was:

Apocalypse release - Muse
Sing for absolution - Muse
Stockholm syndrome - Muse
Hysteria - Muse
Endlessly - Muse
Creeps me out - IMA Robot
Disconnect - IMA Robot
Happy Annie - IMA Robot
Dangerous life - IMA Robot
Seventeen seconds - The Cure
M - The Cure
A reflection - The Cure
Secrets - The Cure
Boys don't cry - The Cure
Cut here - The Cure
Lovecats - The Cure
Temptation - The Cure
Close to me - The Cure
Just like heaven - The Cure
Believer - Kill Hannah
The collapse - Kill Hannah
Crazy Angel - Kill Hannah

And others that I have forgotten but they did this trip a complete pleasure.

Obviously the Crown of the storm came with me :-D

Drovell: From Mexico To The World

This is a band from Mexico, they are four members and have a good sound. Yesterday I went to a show of them on a bar named Purpura at Mexico City.

They sound likely Dildo, Sunshine Underground, obviously with their respective diferences.

You should hear them, they are a good choice for a new sound and getting new music.

Malinalco

Malinalco is a beautiful place, it has a great landscape and if you like going to quiet, quiet, so quiet place you're going to really like it.

It's a small town, with a church and every sunday a "Tianguis" takes place (something like a market but it's located through 6 or 7 streets in average)

I like too much that place, is like to disconnect from the outside world, have funfor a while and enjoy the landscape :-P

here you have many pictures from there. If you have the opportunity to go I bet you won't get afraid of it.

Kill Hannah

Looking for new and good music, I found this band named Kill Hannah.

I've heard their album: "Until there's nothing left of us."

Kill Hannah is a band with a futurist sound, they have a singular sintetizer used on their songs. Just as an example if you listen the Intro, Believer and Collapse from that album you'll get what I'm talking about. :-P

Looking for information about them I found the following directly from the wikipedia:

Members (currently):

The name of the band "Hannah", comes from an ex-girlfriend name of the vocalist Mat Devine. After the fallout with Hannah, Mat printed up stickers to place on "In a Jar UK" 7" records bearing the name "Kill Hannah". Several hundred un-stickered versions are known to exist, with approximately 20 bearing the Kill Hannah sticker

Their LP's are:
  1. The Beauty in Sinking Ships (1996)
  2. Here are the Young Moderns (1998)
  3. American Jet Set (1999)
  4. For Never and Ever (October 14, 2003)
  5. The Curse of Kill Hannah (compilation of previously released material) (May, 2004)
  6. Until There's Nothing Left Of Us (August 01, 2006)
You can get more information about them on their Official WebSite

They have a nice sound, and their lyrics are not complicated at all, I consider them a band as Garbage or similar, their sound is not so heavy and not too soft. Maybe a good band when you need something quiet but with good enough guitar rifts.

I didn't found videos of them to share, but you can watch them on their official site.

On my favorite songs are:
Collapse
Believer
Lips like Morphine
Outro
and their cover of "Under the milky way".

A funny commercial from EDS trilogy

This commercial was released a time ago, if I'm not wrong it has 4 years (at least)
hehehehehe

It tries to show an analogy about working with a lot of information, multiple programs and things like that when you are a Computational Systems Engineer (or similar) and you work for as a consultant.

I'm looking for the other ones, there should be 3 commercials in total, if you have it or you know where to watch it, please let us know :-P

What do you want to do in this 2007?

We have begun a new year, now it's time for 2007.

As usually the people say: A year with expectations, victories, success and more. More promises than in 2006.

Surprises, achievements and things like that will happen on this 2007 but don't forget desillusions, sadness and their opossite.

I hope you'll achieve all your goals on this 2007, my best from me to you.

For this year I have some of the following intentions:

  • Travel to another country at least by work purposes
  • Modify my car (the crow of the storm) and get a better performance
  • To know more people, and more places from Mexico.
  • To be an MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer), currently I'm only a MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional), obviously before I must be a MCAD (Microsoft Certified Applications Developer)
  • To buy a console of third generation.
  • To do more excercise and maybe I'll apply on a Sport club or something like that
  • At least to run on 5 Rallies (that's why I need a better performance on my car :-P)
Well, they seem to be good enough for this year, and I hope to complete all of them.

Best Regards for you and your family.

Outside of Mexico City

The latest days I've spent my time traveling to places near to Mexico City (1 hour of distance aprox. if you travel by car).

I got the following photos using a Sony Ericsson W810i and its 2.0 MegaPixels Camera.

I hope you enjoy them (as you can see I'm not used to take too much pictures, it's just for a brief memory)

La Marquesa, Estado de México:
the landscape is beautiful.

Picture of the: "Iztaccihuatl" a volcano from México.
Picture taken on "Ameca Meca" a nice and quiet town near to Mexico City

I'll bring more pictures on the future from Malinalco, another quiet town from Mexico, Estado de México, if you want to rest and forget about the daily stress, hehehehehe
