The thin man

Yesterday I bought Hellville DeLuxe, the latest Enrique Bunbury's album. It was released in Septembre 2008.

I heard its first 2 singles before buying this disc:
El hombre delgado que no flaqueará jamás
Hay muy poca gente

By listening both singles I thought this disc will be plenty of new rythms or at least different rythms that Bunbury didn't use in his previous discs, but it was not the case. The singles are not the complete picture of the LP itself, it also includes Bunbury's own style that have created in his previous works, so that you will hear songs slow songs.

Sincerely Bunbury is not one of my favorite artists but he has 2 of my top 25 songs (lady blue, el rescate), so that this time I give him another opportunity but unfortunately I have to still saying that I'm not a fan.

The songs are quiet and have a characteristic rythm, additionally the voice is the well-know-voice from Heroes del Silencio, you will not hear any surprise or a new way to perform a song.

There is not much to say about this disc, if you are a Bunbury's fan then you will like this disc, if you are not, maybe you should hear its songs before buying this disc, because its style is a little bit hard to like. On the other hand, if you buy this disc you'll be able to get access to additional material by accessing a web site and using your original CD, the additional material includes videos, posters and an interview.

Below you'll find a video from youtube and a link to iLike where you can watch and listen a part of Hellville DeLuxe.

Nightmare Revisited

This Christmas I bought a CD according to the season (or maybe not :-P ), I got the Nightmare Revisited. It is a remake of the original A Nightmare before Christmas' Soundtrack, the main difference in this remake is that the songs are performed by other artists than Danny Elfman, in this disc you can hear themes played by Marilyn Manson, DeVotchka, The All-American Rejects and more (you can read the complete track list at the end of this post).

The new way to perform the classic songs from the original Nightmare is very good, but I was waiting for a better performance of certain songs, basically it don't deserves a 5 stars classification because lack of inventive (my point of view) from certain bands. Many tracks are instrumental (for example Ooogie Boogie's song) where originally there were characters saying their dialogues. The songs that I don't like are: Ooogie Boogie's song, Nabbed, Christmas eve montage, to the rescue (it sounds like a song from a SNES videogame like a midi format). On the other hand songs like This is halloween, Jack's lament, What's this?, town Meeting song, Jack's obsession, Kidnap the Sandy Claws, Making Christmas, Sally's song and Poor Jack sound incredible.

This disc is a Must-Have to every fan of Burton and/or Nightmare before Christmas, it really sounds very good and it's a new way to hear classic songs, yeah!

Additionally there are certain songs performed by another artists that are not included in this album, like "Sally's song" performed by London After Midnight (one of my top 50 favorite songs), if you know about another song from this awesome Nightmare performed by any one else just let me know.
